Description:
'In my eyes' is a self-portrait pencil drawing that I completed just after Covid reached South Africa in the first quarter of 2020. My eyes (in the drawing) reflects the fear that I myself and many people experienced at the beginning of the pandemic when the world was filled with uncertainty. The literality of the image parallels with the literality of the pandemic and the genuine chaos that it caused. Although face masked covered large parts of our faces, our emotions experienced through the pandemic were always visible in our eyes.
