There’s not a lot of people that knew the pain of losing a loved one, a father, a mother, or a sibling. I was one of those people before Covid started. I always thought that it would never happen to me, no one I know will die or ever get very sick. So when the pandemic had hit the world, it was really scary, nerve wrecking scary. This artwork represents how this pandemic has affected my life, physically, emotionally and mentally. In the year 2021 I lost my Dad with the second wave of Covid. My Dad held on for over 2 weeks in the hospital and ICU, but once he had a heart attack and his lungs couldn’t breathe normally, he started going backwards fast and within five days my Dad died. It was the worst feeling ever, to know I would never be able to talk to him again or see him! My Dad was and will forever be my Hero! Description of Last Hope: This artwork represents myself, or anyone that lost a loved one and felt that they were alone in these difficult times. The blue part that makes the piece stand, represents the ocean that’s rough and the hand is the hand of a person trying to hold on and waving to people to see that this person is struggling and drowning. The wire around the hand is the pain and suffering this person holds and they hold it in and try to not scream and show any other emotions that will make them seem weak. The flowers represents the good and the fact that there’s still hope and beautifulness around them, like people who really understand and that will just listen to you, the things you can now see that you’ve learned in the past that could help you going forward and knowing that there are people that’s proud of you. And the ring on the one finger, represents the fact that the person you lost is there with you and will always be there to guide you from what they’ve taught you.
