Mixed media, ink, embroidery thread and vintage paper Dreamer in the Garden – Jacqui van Staden

This enchanting mixed-media artwork by South African artist Jacqui van Staden invites the viewer into a quiet, contemplative world where imagination and nature meet. Dreamer in the Garden is created using ink, embroidery thread, and collage on vintage paper, blending illustration with delicate textile elements.

Van Staden’s signature use of hand-stitched thread introduces texture and movement, transforming the surface of the paper into something both visual and tactile. The layering of vintage papers and fine ink drawing gives the work a sense of nostalgia and storytelling, as if capturing a fleeting dream within a garden setting.

Her work often explores themes of nature, memory, and quiet reflection, combining traditional drawing techniques with contemporary mixed-media practices. Each piece is thoughtfully constructed, making every artwork a unique and intimate creation.

Dreamer in the Garden is a one-of-a-kind piece, perfect for collectors who appreciate handcrafted detail, poetic imagery, and the gentle beauty of art inspired by the natural world.
