About the Artist:
The art of Elna Venter (b. 1945) is strongly influenced by the Still Life, which addresses the inanimate world. In her case lifeless objects are picked up in streets and fields, found in flea markets, discovered in libraries, bought in second hand shops or manufactured by herself. She also utilizes visual images created by other artists and eclectically integrates them in her art works. The object is not only her subject, it is also her instrument for communication. She studied Fine Arts at Johannesburg Art Foundation and Pretoria Open Window. She participated in various curated exhibitions and held 8 solo’s. Her work is represented in corporate collections. She is the author of Book and 2 of South African Art serries for Children.
