Artist statement:

“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.” Carl Sagan

This painting is part of a series 'Where Do I Begin And End?'. The collection of oil paint and sand paintings are inspired by the concept of interconnectedness and the relationship between external and internal bodily spaces. The painting is not only part of the artist's spiritual and healing journey, it is also created with an appreciation for the child-like wonder connected to the mystery of life that so many adults lose touch with.  Hannah's unique technique and process using the combination of oil paint and sand creates a sculpturesque painting. This work is a delicate blend of a vision and spontaneous expression.

About the artist:
Hannah Yason is a visionary and intuitive artist from London, UK (b.1979). She moved to Cape Town with her husband in 2014. She is the mother to two young children who feed her inner child, motivate her to self-actualize and are her greatest muses. On graduating from the University of Reading with a BA Honours in Fine Art (2002) she has since taken part in group shows in the UK and SA. Her work is in private collections in the UK, France and SA. A residency in France (En-Cours, 2003) and course in Shambhala Art (Dechen Chöling, France 2014) were significant in shaping her unique process. Her passion for the process and art as medicine were further ignited by an Advanced Diploma in Art Therapy course (Institute for Arts and Therapy in Education, London 2010). Hannah is based at Side Track Studios run by Claude Chandler in Salt River.
