SANAVA is proud to host an online-only silent auction fundraiser for the refurbishment of the Cité Internationale des Arts studios utilised for artist residencies in Paris, France.

SANAVA is a non-profit organisation that promotes the visual arts, assists in the development of visual artists, and furthers international cooperation across  the visual arts. We have over 20 branches nationwide in the form of art associations, art clubs and workshop/event organisations, all sharing the goal to promote and develop visual artists in South Africa. SANAVA acquired occupational rights to three studios at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, France in the 1980's. South African artists have benefitted from residencies at these studios for the last 35 years! South Africa, through SANAVA, is the only African country who has access to the Cité studios.

These three studios are required to undergo mandatory restoration as they have not been renovated since the 1980s. Failure to renovate the studios by 2023 would mean handing back these studio spaces to the Cité which would be a tremendous loss to our South African artists. The long-overdue refurbishment is therefore essential in order for us to retain this irreplaceable cultural resource.

South African artists have generously donated artworks for this auction to support these fundraising efforts. Your interest and purchase of these works will ensure that they and future generations of artists have the incredible opportunity for a residency in the centre of Paris.

This auction is entirely not-for-profit, with all proceeds going to the refurbishment of the SANAVA studios at the Cité Internationale des Arts.
