Somandla Ntshalintshali’s rhythmical hand-coiled vessel simulates the roots of the
African baobab tree which provides shelter and fruit for so many animals in the bush.
From the vessel’s belly, a baby elephant emerges to add another branch to the herd.
Jabu Nene has embellished this work with detailed patterns in earthy tones which
connect to the soil of Africa.
